Why I Absolutely Love Elopements (Especially Here in Worcestershire Herefordshire and the Cotswolds)

If you’ve met me—or even just peeked at my wonderfully pink and love-filled corner of the internet—you’ll know I adore all kinds of love stories. But elopements?
Elopements are pure magic.
They have this joy-soaked, spine-tingling energy that I simply cannot resist.
And as a celebrant working across Worcestershire, Herefordshire, and the glorious edges of the West Midlands, I get to witness some of the most intimate, breath-taking elopements you can imagine. Think sweeping Malvern Hills views, quiet Wye Valley riverbanks, secret woodland clearings… it’s all the stuff of romantic daydreams.
Let me tell you exactly why elopements make my celebrant heart burst with happiness.
Elopements Are the Ultimate “Our Day, Our Way”
Gathering all your loved ones together to celebrate love is a beautiful thing, but sometimes, what you both truly want is space to breathe. No seating plans. No performance. No pressure.
Just the two of you choosing each other, wholeheartedly and unapologetically.
Whether we’re tucked away in a hidden corner of Croome Park, standing under ancient trees in the Wyre Forest, or overlooking the patchwork fields of Herefordshire from the top of the Malvern Hills, an elopement gives you the freedom to create a ceremony that fits you like a favourite jumper: warm, cosy, comfortable, and perfectly yours.
The Intimate Moments Hit Different
When you remove the audience, the energy shifts. It becomes softer, more connected and sparks a different sort of joy.
You get to:
Hold hands for as long as you like
Whisper personal vows without worry
Laugh, cry, snort-laugh—whatever feels natural
Be wholly present with the person you love most
As your celebrant, I step into the background and hold that space gently so the two of you can soak in every second. The intimacy is breath-taking.
And here in places like the Malvern Hills, with the wind catching your words as you speak them and whisking them off in to the atmosphere forever… it’s honestly goosebumps-inducing.
Adventure Becomes Part of the Ceremony
One of the best parts of eloping in Worcestershire, Herefordshire or the Cotswolds is how varied and beautiful our landscapes are.
We could be:
In our wellies atop the heathland of Clent Hills, in a dramatic manner similar to Wuthering Heights
Holding a secret ceremony in the fairy woodlands of the Wyre Forest
By the flowing river in Ross-on-Wye
In the shadow of Broadway Tower, overlooking miles of countryside across all of Worcestershire, Herefordshire and the Cotswolds
In the valley listening out for the “chug chug” of the steam trains on the Severn Valley Railway
In the peaceful gardens of a favourite Airbnb hideaway, in amongst our vast areas of countryside
Each location adds a layer to your story—your colours, your scenery, your adventure.
Elopements here feel like stepping into your own romantic film, you can even include THAT Braveheart piece if you want to!
Your Ceremony Becomes a Love Letter
I adore writing and crafting personalised ceremonies, and elopements give me even more freedom to create something rich, meaningful, and deeply you.
We can include:
Your inside jokes
Little rituals
The story of how you met
Your quirks and quiet moments
What you love about each other – and maybe even a few jokes about a little of what you may not!
It’s not a performance—it’s a beautifully written love letter spoken aloud in a private moment you’ll remember always. This is where you find connection. It's where the magic happens.

Eloping Lets You Choose Joy Over Obligation
At its heart, eloping is a joyful rebellion. It gently says:
“We’re doing this our way, for us.”
It’s not about avoiding people or rejecting tradition. It’s about leaning fully into connection, intimacy, and authenticity – the most important part of why you’re getting married.
And as a celebrant who adores working across Worcestershire, Herefordshire and the Cotswolds, I’ve seen how powerful this choice can be for couples. It gives them space to breathe. Space to be themselves. Space to fall even more in love.
The Impact on our Earth and the Environment
There are sustainability benefits to an elopement too. The average gathering for a wedding can produce up to 20kg of non-recyclable plastic waste and almost £500 is wasted on food that isn't consumed by guests (the equivalent of 65% of one household's annual food waste).
With an elopement, this waste and negative environmental impact is just not a part of the equation.
Of course, you may produce emissions through travel to your chosen ceremony location, but why not plan that in as part of your elopement adventure and travel by train or combine the ceremony with your honeymoon and have it all in one place?
When you elope, not only do you get to be a part of the natural world by holding your ceremony in a magical location, but you get to look after the natural world too.
Thinking About Eloping in Worcestershire, the Cotswolds or Herefordshire?
If you feel an elopement calling your name—whether on the Malvern Hills, deep in the Wye Valley, or somewhere delightfully tucked away—I would love to create something beautiful with you.
